Frequently Asked Questions
Which series should I pick for my pattern / mould material? +
Match by material. For wood, EPS foam, lost-foam patterns, foam, fibreglass and other non-metallic substrates — choose the BS or SF series (3-axis), with bed size from 1.3 × 2.5 m up to 5 × 7 m. For soft metals (aluminium, brass) and cast iron / steel mould blocks — choose the SM series (3-axis) with BT40 spindle, 12 kW, and roller guides for rigidity. For complex 3D surfaces, 5-sided machining of large mould blocks, or any application needing simultaneous 5-axis motion — choose BS2513-5S (table-move, up to 2,500 × 1,300 × 800 mm) or SF35120-5S (portal, up to 11,000 × 2,500 × 1,600 mm).
What is the difference between table-move and portal 5-axis? +
Table-move 5-axis (BS2513-5S) moves the workpiece on the table while the gantry and spindle stay fixed in plan — suited to medium parts where the spindle column can be a heavy fixed structure. Portal 5-axis (SF35120-5S) has the gantry move over a fixed work surface — used for very large mould blocks (up to 11 m) that cannot practically be moved on a table. Portal is the only option above roughly 5 m part length.
Can I choose between FANUC, Siemens and Syntec CNC controls? +
Yes. The SM and 5-axis platforms support FANUC OiMF Plus, Siemens 828 and Taiwan Syntec 610MA-E5 as control options — the choice is typically driven by the operator's existing programming environment and post-processor library. The CNC selection is made at order time; mid-life upgrades from one control family to another are possible but require substantial cabinet rework.
What is the largest mould I can machine on a single machine? +
On the SF7050 (3-axis, non-metallic), parts up to 5,000 × 7,000 × 1,500 mm with table load to 17.5 tonnes. On the SF35120-5S (5-axis portal), part envelope reaches 11,000 × 2,500 × 1,600 mm — large enough for complete wind-turbine blade moulds, aerospace tooling masters and full-scale automotive prototype dies. For anything larger, our engineering team can scope a custom-gantry variant.
Why is the Stallion CNC Router platform superior to competitor offerings? +
The three-series platform covers the complete foundry pattern and mould-making matrix on unified component standards — Italy HITECO HSK63F spindle on the 5-axis variants, Taiwan-built BT40 / BT50 mechanical spindles on 3-axis platforms, Taiwan linear guides throughout, and a choice of FANUC, Siemens or Syntec CNC. Z-axis hydraulic balance, pre-stretched ball screws and the constant-temperature drive system (SM) deliver foundry-grade thermal stability across long machining cycles. Critical components — spindles, ball screws, linear guides, CNC controls, servo drives — are built around internationally proven names across Italy, Japan, Germany and Taiwan for sustained accuracy and long service life.
