Stallion Machine

Gantry Automation

Gantry loaders and gantry-fed production cells for high-rigidity, high-payload automation.
Gantry automation is the preferred material-handling solution where high payload, high rigidity, fast cycle times and precise positional accuracy all matter at once. Stallion designs and integrates complete gantry automation systems — both as standalone loading cells around individual CNC machines, and as the backbone of multi-station automated production lines. Gantry systems offer engineering advantages that articulated robots cannot match: rigidity that does not degrade with reach, payload capacities that scale to several hundred kilograms, repeatable positioning at production cycle times, and overhead routing that keeps the shop floor clear for operator access and maintenance.

Gantry Configurations

Stallion engineers gantry automation in three principal configurations, selected for the customer's application.
▸ Single-Machine Gantry Loader
A gantry loader serving a single CNC machine — typically a lathe, machining centre or special-purpose machine. The simplest entry point into gantry automation, often deployed where the manual loading operation is the dominant labour or cycle-time constraint on the machine.
▸ Multi-Machine Gantry Cell
A single overhead gantry serving two, three or more CNC machines arranged in a line — moving workpieces between machines through a defined process sequence. The right choice for sequential machining operations where workpieces flow through multiple operations.
▸ Gantry-Fed Production Line
A complete production line with gantry-based material flow across all stations — machining, in-process inspection, finishing and unload. Often combined with robotic operations at specific stations where dexterous handling is required.
OVERHEAD GANTRIES. GROUND-LEVEL DISCIPLINE. ENGINEERED FOR PRODUCTION.

Typical Applications

Stallion deploys gantry automation across the manufacturing sectors with the heaviest workpiece-handling requirements.
▸ Automotive
Brake disc, brake drum, knuckle, engine block and transmission component handling between CNC machining operations. The heavy-payload, fast-cycle nature of these workpieces makes gantries the natural choice.
▸ Heavy Engineering & Power
Turbine components, generator castings, large structural workpieces — applications where the workpiece weight rules out articulated robots entirely.
▸ Valve & Pump Manufacturing
Larger industrial valve bodies, pump casings and impellers moved between turning, machining and inspection operations.
▸ Foundry & Post-Cast Finishing
Cast workpiece handling between fettling, machining and finishing operations in a foundry-integrated production environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the typical payload capacity of a Stallion gantry system? +

Stallion engineers gantry systems for payloads from approximately 25 kg at the lower end up to several hundred kilograms for heavy-engineering applications. The specific payload, gantry length and positional accuracy are engineered for the customer's specific workpiece — there is no off-the-shelf gantry configuration.

How long does a typical gantry automation project take from order to commissioning? +

Lead times depend on the scope and complexity of the system. A single-machine gantry loader can typically be commissioned within 12 to 16 weeks of order. A multi-machine gantry cell or gantry-fed production line is a more substantial engineering project, typically requiring 20 to 36 weeks depending on the number of stations and the integration complexity.

Can a Stallion gantry be retrofitted to existing CNC machines? +

Yes. Many of Stallion's gantry projects involve retrofitting gantry loading onto existing customer CNC machines — particularly where the customer has invested in good machines but is constrained by manual loading. Stallion's application engineering team assesses the existing machine, integration constraints and cycle requirements before proposing the retrofit configuration.

Does Stallion provide ongoing support for gantry systems? +

Yes — the same AMC, predictive maintenance and lifetime service support that applies to Stallion's CNC range extends to the company's gantry automation work. Genuine spares are held in inventory, and Stallion's service network covers gantry systems pan-India.
